Corio

Corio has been a member of the Geelong and District Football League since 1974. The club has an excellent record of qualifying for the finals, but has not had much luck in converting finals appearances into premierships. Indeed, the Devils had already contested four grand finals without success by the time they broke through for their first, and so far only, senior flag in 1995, thrashing Werribee Centrals in both the second semi final, by 60 points, and grand final, by 87 points, to do so.

During the first decade of the present century the Lions went extremely close to adding a second senior premiership, losing the 2004 grand final against Werribee Centrals in a replay, and also reaching the 2005 grand final, which was lost to Thomson.

The Devils have a good record of success in other grades. The reserves went top six times in succession in the early 1980s, and won their eighth flag in total in 2008, while the under eighteens won premierships in 1986 and 1995.

In recent seasons the Devils have underperformed, typically finishing a long way adrift of finals qualification. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 they ended up with the wooden spoon, winning just once in 54 games in the process.
