In 2017 the Magpies were one of five founder members of the Tasmanian State League Women's North West Division. They endured a season to forget, losing all 8 matches contested which inevitably consigned them to last place on the premiership ladder. The following season could not have provided more of a contrast. Second on the ladder after the roster matches they went on to claim the premiership thanks to a convincing 6.5 (41) to 2.4 (16) grand final defeat of a Latrobe side which had won all its previous games for the season.
