Gaza WFC

Gaza commenced in Division Two of the South Australian Women's Football League in 2016, finishing in eighth place out of ten clubs after emerging victorious from 4 of their 18 minor round fixtures. A year later the club was among the founder members of the league's new Division Three competition in which they performed solidly to qualify for the finals in second place. A 26 point second semi final loss to Flinders University threatened to derail the Eagles' premiership aspirations but they recovered superbly, overcoming North Pines by 11 points in the following week's preliminary final before turning the tables on Flinders University in the grand final with a 2.3 (15) to 1.0 (6) triumph. Having obtained a flag in only their second season the Eagles would presumably have been confident of further imposing themselves on the league in years to come and in 2018 they went some way towards endorsing this when they got as far as the grand final of Division Three. Opposed by Happy Valley they battled hard and were certainly not outclassed but in the end it was the Vikings who prevailed by a margin of 13 points.
