The Thunderers took their bows in Division Four of the women's section of the Adelaide Footy League in 2017 and they proved quite competitive, winning 5 of their 14 matches to finish in fifth place out of eight teams. A year later they lined up in Division Six and ended up carrying off the premiership. As minor premiers the Thunderers automatically qualified for the grand final in which they overcame Aldinga by 22 points, 5.3 (33) to 1.5 (11).
