Kimba Districts

Kimba Districts’ formation, which was achieved through the merger of former Kimba District Football League rivals Kimba, Kelly and Buckleboo, coincided with the establishment of the Eastern Eyre Football League, which was itself the result of an amalgamation involving the KDFL and County Jervois Football League. The Tigers won the first two EEFL premierships, beating Ports in the 1989 grand final by 24 points, and Darke Peak Waddikee by 2 points in 1990. They have since gone on to add another ten senior grade flags, making them the competition’s most successful club . The club’s second most recent premiership came in 2016. It was achieved at the expense of Eastern Ranges by a grand final margin of 42 points, 14.13 (97) to 8.7 (55). A year later the Tigers again made it through to the grand final only to suffer a surprise 9 point loss at the hands of a Ports side which had reached the ultimate contest of the season for only the third time. The team was quick to make amends, obtaining a twelfth senior grade premiership in 2018 thanks to a crushing 14.11 (95) to 4.11 (35) grand final defeat of Eastern Ranges.
