Penshurst
Penshurst’s first premiership was attained as long ago as 1897 in the inaugural year of the short-lived Hamilton Football Association. Opposed in the grand final by South Hamilton, the red and blacks won easily, 5.9 (39) to 1.2 (8).
Since 1970 Penshurst has competed in the Mininera District Football League. The Bombers won a senior grade flag in their debut season, and the 2012 premiership was their tenth, making them the most successful club in the competition during the period of their involvement (and overall the second most successful). Success has not been confined to the seniors, with the reserves enjoying premiership success in 1982, 1986-7, 1989-90, 1994, 1996, 2003 and 2016, and the under sixteens/16.5s going top eight times since the turn of the century alone.
