Sheffield

Sheffield Football Club dates back more than a century with the club being recorded as contesting the Wilmot Football Association’s very first premiership decider in 1910. On that occasion, it lost to Barrington, but the 1911 season saw it making amends with a grand final triumph over Railton. Sheffield went on to be a leading force in the competition, which underwent a number of name changes during its existence, claiming a total of eight flags, including the very last one in 1954. The Robins have competed in the North Western Football Association since 1955 and have so far won a total of six senior grade premierships, but none since 2000. They did, however, come close in both 2012 and 2013 when they lost successive grand finals to Motton Preston. More recently, however, they have tended to struggle. For example, in 2017 they finished eighth of nine clubs after managing just 3 wins from 16 roster matches for the year before improving slightly in 2018 when their 6-10 record was good enough to procure sixth place.
