Southern Eagles

The Southern Eagles were formed in 1994 by means of a three way merger involving Yorketown, Edithburgh and Western United. The club achieved its first senior grade premiership in its second season, and its second in 2008 when it overcame the grand final challenge of Moonta by 17 points, 14.8 (92) to 11.9 (75). In 2009 the Eagles went back to back after again seeing off Moonta in the grand final, this time by the rather more conclusive margin of 87 points. Final scores were Southern Eagles 21.11 (137) defeated Moonta 7.8 (50). There have not been any further senior grade grand final appearances since although they did get as far as a preliminary final loss to Central Yorke in 2018.
