Two Wells
The original Two Wells Football Club was formed some time in the first decade of the twentieth century, and by the time it merged with Virginia in 1959 to form the Two Wells Virginia Football Club it had claimed a total of four senior grade premierships in various competitions. In 1975 a fresh incarnation of the Two Wells Football Club was established and admitted to the Gawler and Districts Football Association. The new club quickly set out its stall by capturing a hat trick of flags thanks to comfortable grand final triumphs over South Gawler in 1975, Willaston in 1976, and Gawler Central in 1977. The Roosters later added a fourth GDFA flag when they overcame Gawler Central in the 1981 grand final by 2 points, 15.12 (102) to 14.16 (100).
Since 1987 Two Wells has been a member of the Adelaide Plains Football League, capturing senior grade premierships in 1987 thanks to a 9.11 (65) to 6.6 (42) grand final defeat of Mallala, 2012 when they downed Virginia 15.7 (97) to 11.11 (77), 2017 when they accounted for Mallala 11.8 (74) to 9.7 (61) and 2018 when their 12.11 (83) to 6.7 (43) grand final defeat of Balaklava came as the culmination of a season which had seen them suffer just one reversal in 18 games. Meanwhile they lost the grand finals of 1990, 2009 and 2013 against Mallala, and 1992 against Port Wakefield. The club’s reserve grade team has won APFL flags on half a dozen occasions, in 1990, 1992, 1994, 2002, 2009 and 2014.
