The other game for the Saturday arvo sends us up to the northern suburbs where we find the Bulldogs taking on the Crows at the X-Convenience Oval in Elizabeth. The Crows inflicted a 35-point loss on the Dogs from their last venture to Elizabeth back in Round 5, after they drew the previous week against South. That win was the start of an undefeated streak which included last week's lucky escape against Westies, while the doldrums have continued at the Ponderosa with their loss to the Eagles.
Not much was going to change against the stacked line-up the Crows brought this time around, breaking away to a four-goal lead by quarter-time with their 5.2 to 1.2 opening quarter. The Dogs managed to stem the tide somewhat, but still leaked 3.1 and scored just 1.2 as the deficit crept out to 35 points by the half-time break. Anytime the Dogs got any headway, the Crows' bigger bodies would head down back and tower over their opponents. The inaccuracy bug made the Dogs' third quarter even more infuriating for their fans, although the gap was brought back to within a five-goal reach. They scored 4.4 to 3.3, Adelaide's lead back to 28 points at three quarter-time. The Dogs were reduced to near-spectator status in the final term, scoring just one behind as Adelaide added 4.4 to run out easy 55-point winners.
Bryce Gibbs surely won't be playing seconds for too long with his best on ground efforts for Adelaide, the Dogs would name first gamer Steve Burton as their best.
