Match Report

The last three games took place on the Sunday afternoon, away from local AFL influence. The first of which finds us going to the Prospect Oval as the Roosters hosted the Double Blues. It has been a quick turnaround between battles, it was just before the State game bye that the Blues took a 34-point win at Unley in Round 6. The Roosters are still looking for the victory that will take away the minus points on the ladder, having been belted by the Tigers last week while the Blues went down to a Magpies side hosting some returning Power front liners.

Perhaps more than a little stung from that outing, the Roosters would be the ones in front at the first change. They scored 4.2 to the Blues' 2.2 to lead by 12 points at quarter-time. North managed to maintain their position in the second term, but the lead was chipped back by a point by half-time with a scoreline of 3.1 to 3.2. However the momentum came to an abrupt and total halt, the Rooster show finished at the break and the Sturt show was up next. The Blues kept the reigning premiers scoreless in the third term, inaccuracy would however keep the Roosters within possible reach at the final change. They scored 3.5 to hold a two-goal lead at three quarter-time.

That comeback would never come, North scored only five behinds while the Blues added 2.1 to win by 20 points. Josh Hone was voted Sturt's best afield, the Roosters named Jarrad Allmond as their best.
