Match Report

Sydney held off a persistent Port Adelaide side to run out 22-point winners in their clash at AAMI Stadium. It was another highly competitive effort from the Power and once again showed they won’t be the easybeats they were during 2011. The win continued Sydney’s dominance over Port, with this being the Swans’ eighth straight victory over the Power. The main talking point to come out of the encounter was a report to co-captain and dual Brownlow Medalist Adam Goodes. The Sydney star went into the umpires book after sliding in knee first to a contest with Power’s Jacob Surjan in the second quarter. Former Eagle Brad Ebert was best on ground for the Power in his third game for the club, while forward Daniel Stewart slotted three goals. The powerful Swans midfield was on fire with Josh Kennedy (27 possessions), Daniel Hannebery (36) and Luke Parker (30) highly influential in the victory.

COACHES COMMENTS
Matthew Primus (Port): We lost a game we thought we could have won, and should have won. It was the same as last week. The guys have got the platform now to be competitive in games - that is a given. We now need to win games and we should have won today's game.

John Longmire (Syd): The young blokes kept on going at the level they were going at and to have a six-goal-to-three last quarter away from home, when the opposition had the momentum at three-quarter time, was pleasing.

Umpires: Nicholls, Hay, Pannell
