Match Report
Adelaide won the game comfortably, but all the post-match talk centred around Greater Western Sydney’s most competitive performance in the AFL to date. The Giants looked like suffering another heavy loss when the Crows kicked the first two goals of the match in quick time, but they were able to put in a respectable effort after that. Undoubtedly the highlight of an error-riddled game was rugby league convert Israel Folau kicking his first goal in the AFL. The heavily criticised Folau marked right on the 50m arc early in the second quarter and then slotted through a great goal in wet conditions, as his teammates came from all directions to congratulate him. Highly paid recruits Callan Ward and Tom Scully were the standout players for the Giants, while Crows forward Kurt Tippett made the most of the Giants’ inexperienced defence, kicking four majors. The Crows were left undermanned in the opening minutes when Jared Petrenko suffered a heavy concussion and had to be subbed out of the game immediately.

COACHES COMMENTS
Brenton Sanderson (Adel): It's a little bit about intent, a little bit about the desire to tackle and they've got a fair bit of ability to do it but sometimes it's just the mindset. We've got an eight-day break, we'll be tackling [at training] this week - that's two weeks in a row it's been unacceptable.
Kevin Sheedy (GWS): Obviously everyone is pretty young and we're all sort of on this journey together to develop. We want to be a great club, a successful club, and what we're doing at the moment is trying to improve each week and train as hard as we can to get there.
