Match Report
It wasn’t pretty, but the Western Bulldogs notched up their second straight win and fourth of the season. Gold Coast were determined, taking a three-point lead into the half-time break, but they just couldn’t hang on against the bigger Bulldogs bodies. Wayward goalkicking affected both teams in hot and humid conditions at TIO Stadium in Darwin, where the Bulldogs play a home game each year. Suns skipper Gary Ablett couldn’t exert his usual influence on the contest as he received a heavy tag from Liam Picken. Zephaniah Skinner, came in for his AFL debut and was subsitiuted into the game at three-quarter time. He booted a memorable 50m goal off just one step in the final quarter. Tom Liberatore, the son of Bulldogs legend Tony, was best on ground and showed glimpses that he could be a future star of the competition.

COACHES COMMENTS
Brendan McCartney (WB): Our physical conditioning people will do it and we'll manage the players. And (with) no injuries out of tonight at this stage, we'll deal with it. It's probably going to be pretty important for a lot of our young players, and they’re learning to get through it.
Guy McKenna (GC): If you're out of the side, you've got to fight your way back into the side. It has a lot to do with your performance in the seconds and how the senior side goes as well. I'm only one voice on the match committee but I thought in general the effort was better on the weekend, so the boys outside the side might find it harder to get in.
