The match of the round lived up to the hype with an absorbing, defensive contest taking place at AAMI Stadium between Adelaide and Collingwood. Both sides came into the match on five-match winning streaks, but somehow, the Crows went in as clear favourites. The betting odds mattered for little as the Magpies came away with a convincing 26-point victory. The win maintained Collingwood’s incredible recent interstate record, with the win being their 14th in 15 starts away from Victoria. But the Magpies’ win was soured by a season-ending knee injury to promising young defender Lachlan Keeffe. It was another blow to Collingwood’s already injury-depleted backline. Midfielders Dayne Beams, Steele Sidebottom and Scott Pendlebury led the way for the Magpies. Beams’ performance (36 possessions, two goals) was particularly impressive and continued to build towards a career best season in 2012. The form of Collingwood key forward Travis Cloke was a talking point after the game. He finished the night with just four possessions as speculation grew that on-going contract negotiations were starting to affect his form. For the Crows, key forward Kurt Tippett was a presence up forward with two goals.

COACHES COMMENTS
Brenton Sanderson (Ade): We're a fit side and we've been really aggressive in the fourth quarters all season. For them to come back into the game … and then accelerate away from us was a bit un-Adelaide-like from what we've seen this season. They smashed us in the last quarter; what was it? A 32-point turnaround or something?

Nathan Buckley (Coll): "We're very disappointed for Lachy [Keeffe] to go down. It's a suspected ACL which would be our fourth for the year. It's not something that you can do a lot about, it's just misfortune and a lot of bad luck for us.
