Match Report

Fremantle is well and truly still alive in 2012 after defeating Port Adelaide. The Dockers are only percentage outside of the eight, but such is the eveness of the competition they have to keep winning, and winning well. That’s something they didn’t quite do against the Power. A last quarter fadeout cost the Dockers a significant percentage boost after they kept Port to just 2.7 up until three quarter time. Instead of putting the struggling Power to the sword, Fremantle relaxed and let Port kick four goals in the final term to win the quarter. But it was an important day for Ross Lyon’s Dockers as they welcomed back Nathan Fyfe for his first game in more than three months. He showed no signs of the shoulder injury that had kept him on the sidelines as he finished with 26 disposals and a goal to be one of his side's best. After amazing performances in the past six weeks, Dockers captain Matthew Pavlich was kept to just two goals.

COACHES COMMENTS
Matthew Primus (Port): Their pressure was very good but nothing that we hadn't talked about. We knew it was coming. But to their credit they were a lot better than us in the first half and the game was done and dusted by then.

Ross Lyon (Frem): I thought we absolutely annihilated them in the first half … absolutely rapt with how we played, I thought it was a real dominant performance. We took them to the cleaners in the first half, to be honest.
