Match Report

A free-flowing Fremantle turned the tables on an injury-depleted West Coast in the year's second Western Derby. Having meekly succumbed to the Eagles in their round 10 encounter, the Dockers flew out of the blocks with a four-goal-to-one first quarter and were never seriously challenged from that point. Matthew Pavlich's stellar late season form continued and the Dockers' captain finished with eight goals, his equal second-highest total in an AFL match. He received fine support from Haydn Ballantyne (three goals), Michael Walters and Tendai Mzungu (two goals each) The Eagles' forward-line was rendered virtually impotent in all but the third quarter, in which four of their six goals were kicked. The Eagles appear to be faltering at the wrong end of the season, with the long-term losses to injury of Le Cras, Kennedy, Nicoski and Embley now catching up with them. West Coast now faces a challenge to regain a place in the top four, while Fremantle are behind seventh-placed North Melbourne and Essendon (eighth) on percentage only with four games remaining. For Fremantle, the win represented one of the few times under new coach Ross Lyon that the Dockers were able to restrict the opposition to a meagre score, while scoring relatively heavily themselves. It was also Fremantle's first win against a top eight side since their four-point defeat of Geelong in round 1.

COACHES COMMENTS
Ross Lyon (Frem): We learned a lot of lessons [in the season's first derby] and we've improved our football.

John Worsfold (WC): If the guys in there aren't performing at the level we require them to, then we'll have to look at other options
