Match Report

Saturday afternoon football sees us head over to Unleash Solar Oval in Woodville where the Eagles hosted the Tigers. The football fortunes thus far have seen these two clubs have very different beginnings in 2012, the Tigers with two wins and the Eagles with two losses. And there was no doubt that the Tigers had vengeance on their minds after their last meeting at Oval Avenue when the Eagles tore the Tigers to pieces with a 107-point hiding.

The match began even, both sides struggled to find the goals often enough to have a big impact on the scoreboard. At quarter-time the scores were tied at 1.3 each. The Tigers would then go on to score 5.4 to the Eagles' 1.1 to take a 27-point lead at half-time. When play resumed, it was like watching a replay of the first term with the lack of meaningful scores. The Eagles managed to reduce the margin, after kicking 2.4 to 1.4 the Tigers held a 21-point lead at three quarter-time. But that would be as close as the reigning premiers would get to the Tigers, who were intent on exacting their revenge for the 2011 embarrassment. The visitors would score 6.1 to the home side's 4.2 to take out a 32-point win.

Sam Shaw was voted best afield for the Tigers, while the Eagles named Ben Grieger as their best.
