In the final match for the round, its off to the Commander Centre Oval in Unley where the Double Blues faced the Roosters. Their last battle takes us back to Round 21 at this venue as the Blues took an eight-point win in a match that yielded 30 goals from 64 combined scoring shots. As well as wins in the two other encounters, the Roosters wouldn't taste victory against them in 2011.
The first quarter saw the Double Blues take a quarter-time lead of three points, their inaccuracy stopping the home side taking a bigger advantage. At the first break, it was Sturt 4.4 to North 4.1. Those wasted opportunities would bite them in the second term as the Roosters kicked 6.7 to Sturt's three goals. Again, inaccuracy keeping the door open for the opposition but now it was the Blues on the back foot. At the long break, North were holding a 22-point lead. From here, the two teams would exchange blows on the scoreboard, the Blues would bring the Roosters back to within four straight shots by the final change after scoring 2.3 to 2.1 in the third term. But the Roosters were primed for a fight to the death, Sturt's persistence not paying off in the end as the inaccuracy bug returned to the Blues camp. The home side kicked 4.4 to the visitors' 3.2, the Roosters taking a two-goal win and moving into the top five.
James Allan was a pain in the neck all day, bagging him best on ground votes for North while the Blues named Brodie Martin as their best.
