In the final match for the weekend, the Eagles faced the Roosters at the Unleash Solar Oval in Woodville on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles have had the better of the Roosters over the past few seasons, from the last 11 games only four of them have gone North's way. The Eagles took out the last match at Oval Avenue, it was Round 12 and the home side avenged a previous home loss to North from last season with a 45-point win. Not too long ago, the thought of the Eagles entering the top five would have been laughed at. But thanks to the bottom three sharing 10 points and fifth spot just two wins away, all of a sudden the reigning premiers had a reason to fight for their season.
The Eagles launched straight into action, taking a 32-point advantage into the first change after kicking 7.3 to 2.1 in the opening quarter. The Eagles kept up the punishment in the second term, adding a further 5.2 to North's lousy 1.2. At the half-time break, the home side were ahead by 56 points and had the Roosters by the throat. Just like Port did with Centrals a few weeks previous, the Eagles were doing to the Roosters but with far more ruthless intent. They relaxed their rampage a little in the third quarter, adding just 3.1 to North's 2.1 to add another six points to their half-time lead. But it seemed to be as if they were just toying with the Roosters in the end, they finished the job with a 5.8 to 1.2 final term to take a devastating 92-point win.
