Match Report

The second match for the weekend will take us across to the Prospect Oval, the ABC cameras fronted up for the clash between the Roosters and the Double Blues. From the previous 11 matches, the Blues have taken seven wins to the Roosters' five. Sturt managed to take four on the trot from Round 17 in 2010 up to late 2011, the next three games leading to the last match going all tit-for-tat with the clubs exchanging blows. The Round 3 win to the Roosters at Menzies Crescent was the previous result, North winning by 26 points.

Early on in the piece, the Roosters looked as if they were having more moments reminiscent of their game last weekend against Central, except they were behind the eight-ball in the first term after they kicked a lousy two behinds to Sturt's 2.3 to be down by 13 points at quarter-time. But then the Roosters stuck the boot in hard, kicking 8.3 and keeping the Blues to just one behind in the second term. At the half-time break, the Roosters were ahead by 37 points... a 50-point turn-around would no doubt be making some rival clubs drop their bundle a bit. The football lesson continued when play resumed for the second half, the Roosters didn't miss a step as they added a further 5.1 to their score to Sturt's 2.2 to extend their advantage to nine goals going into the final stanza. The Roosters weren't finished battering their opponents, although inaccurate in the last quarter they still booted 6.5 to 2.1 to take a resounding 76-point win.

North named Nathan Blee as their best on ground, while Sturt voted in John Greenslade as their standout.
