With all the matches on Saturday, the first match off the rank takes us to Envestra Park in Unley for the clash between the Double Blues and the Redlegs. The last six games have been all red & blue, with Sturt taking four from the five games before that streak. That run of losses would prove to be a horror show for the Blues, from early 2011 up to Round 9 this season the Redlegs have battered the hell out of them. The closest they came to an upset was in mid-2012, when they lost by eight points, but then later in the season they copped a 20-goal smashing at The Parade.
A sodden day would make this one a low-scoring affair, the Redlegs managing to score 3.3 to the Blues single goal to lead by 15 points at the first change. Not a single goal was managed in the second term, the conditions playing havoc with both sides as the Blues reduced the margin to 14 points after scoring three behinds to Norwood's two. The Redlegs would adapt to the windy conditions best when play resumed, keeping the Blues to just two behinds whilst adding 4.2 to their score. At three quarter-time, the 'Legs were out to a 38-point lead. That gap would prove to be to much for Sturt to mount any decent comeback effort in the lousy weather, not even the Redlegs' inaccuracy in the final term would keep the door open for them. The visitors slammed the door shut already, but a further 2.5 to 1.3 would see them leave Unley with a 46-point win and extend their streak to seven.
State U-18 championship team member Jesse Aish was named best for the Redlegs, while Sturt voted in Harley Montgomery as their standout.
