We head to the western fringes of town, across the Hilton Bridges to the City Mazda Stadium in Richmond where the Bloods hosted the Panthers. The Bloods had been all over the Panthers for a while now, but a 10-match losing streak was brought to a halt at Noarlunga back in Round 13 as South defeated the Bloods by 10 points in a match that yielded just 17 goals. Unfortunately for the Panthers, this afternoon would be one that they would want wiped from the history books. The Bloods were no doubt livid after a poor showing against the Bulldogs a week ago and then in walked the Panthers, which provided them with an outlet for some pent-up aggression.
They began the punishment quickly, restricting the Panthers to just a single point for the first quarter whilst kicking 6.1 for themselves to take a 36-point lead at quarter-time. The gap would continue to widen as the day progressed, Souths still unable to find the big sticks in the second term as they kicked just three behinds to Westies' 4.4 as they stretched their advantage to 61 points by the long break. The Panthers were just all at sea as the Bloods ran around practically unrestricted in their movement, when play resumed the home side had their best quarter of the day if not the season, kicking 8.2 while the visitors finally scored goals with their 2.3. At three quarter-time, the Bloods were ahead by 16 goals. This match was now a percentage booster, the Bloods hammered the point home with a further 5.1 to 1.4 to run away with a 117-point smashing of the hapless Panthers.
The Bloods named Travis Tuck as their best afield, while Nick Liddle was South's lone standout.
