In match number three for the weekend, the action shifts over to Sunday afternoon as we head to the Prospect Oval for the game between the Roosters and the Tigers. The tale of the tape from the last 11 games has the Tigers up by one match, but they haven't beaten the Roosters since Round 10 last season which was the beginning of a four-game losing streak. The last result was a 14.3 hammering at Glenelg in Round 15, the streak of losses for the Tigers taking increasingly horrid looks as the deficits climbed progressively at each encounter; 27, 50, 58 & 87 points. But no-one among the near 2500 in attendance would have been able to digest what was about to happen this time around.
The match started rather evenly, which would surprise many seeing as teams were on near opposite ends of the table. At quarter-time, the Roosters would hold a one-point lead after scoring 3.2 to 3.1. But then the Tigers just went nuts, kicking 5.3 to the Roosters' three lousy behinds to take a 29-point lead into the half-time break. The worst was yet to come though, the Bays were just getting started. When play restarted, despite some inaccuracy in goal, the Tigers would go on to add a further 6.5 to North's 3.3 to stretch their lead to 49 points going into the final change. Roosters supporters would be left stunned, the penalty would be a drop to fourth on the ladder as they would eventually go down by 67 points after the Tigers scored 3.2 to just two behinds to finish the game.
Glenelg would name Warrick McGinty as their best on ground, while the Roosters voted in Matt Wright as their best.
