Norwood Oval was the place to be on Friday night, the always much anticipated match between the Redlegs and the Magpies in Match 1 of the Williams-Gallagher Cup Series.
Norwood was looking for its first win of the season and their desperation showed as the 'Legs established a three point lead at quarter time. The Magpies continued to bother the home team in the second term but their biggest problem was inaccuracy, kicking another 1.4 to Norwood's one goal. Bad shooting on goals continued to plague the visitors for the rest of the game, by the end of the third term the two sides were locked away at 37 points a piece. But this was the Redlegs' night, winning by six points. A rotten night for the Magpies, and especially Clive Waterhouse, who kicked four goals and six behinds.
