Friday night at Adelaide Oval greeted football fans as the Double Blues and the Magpies took to the field.
Sturt, marked as the Friday night specialists, started off best with a 5.4 to 2.2 first quarter. A further 4.5 to Port's 2.2 kept the Blues in front before the long break. The Magpies rallied in the third quarter, their 6.3 to the Blues' 2.2 closing the gap to 10 points. But unfortunately for the Magpies, without Jeremy Clayton to stem any Sturt attack, the Blues kept their assailants at arms length. The last quarter saw Sturt add 4.4 to the Magpies' 4.1, as a result the run of successful night matches remained intact. Tim Weatherald racked up his 200th game as the Blues took out a 13 point win.
