In the Alberton Oval match, the Magpies facing the acid test against the Bulldogs. Some key Bulldogs were missing, one of them being Daniel Schell who pulled out with back soreness.
The Bulldogs found themselves under the pump early, but fought back to be behind by four points at quarter time. But afterwards, the Magpies exposed every single sore point of the Dogs defence and made them hurt bad. At half time, a further 4.3 to Central's two goals saw the home side up by 19 points. Only the Magpies inaccuracy gave the Dogs any hope of a comeback, after the long break Port's charges only managed 2.5 but the visitors still couldn't bridge the gap with their 1.3. The Pies finished in fine style, booting 5.4 to the Dogs' 2.5 to win by 44 points.
Shane Morrison and Ivan Maric combined their efforts well, they bagged four goals each and Jeremy Clayton was named best for Port, while Jeremy Aufderheide and Adrian Wilson were Centrals real shining lights.
