On Friday night, the Double Blues fronted up against a rampant Roosters outfit on the Adelaide Oval.
The match started off pretty equal in the first term, the Blues taking the first lead of the game, two points at the end of the quarter. But after that, the Roosters just went on their merry way. In the second term, the Nick Gill show began as he booted an unanswered string of six goals in eight minutes without a miss. Three goals by other contributing North players saw them up by 37 points at half time. After the long break, the Roosters had another goal-fest in the third term. Again they bagged nine goals but missed four other scoring shots, while Sturt only managed 3.1. The Roosters were well away at this time and didn’t stop there. In the final term, although they could have been more accurate, added 5.8 to the Blues’ 3.4. The Roosters were never troubled at any stage, running out winners by 92 points.
Gill was named best by North to end his nine-goal night, while Brett Chambers was named best for Sturt.
