On Friday night, where The Parade lit up for two traditional South Australian football rivals -- the Redlegs, the Magpies and the 7,000 fans who turned up.
Port broke out of the blocks quickly, keeping the Redlegs to a dismal four behinds while they booted 6.1 to be in front by 33 points at the first change. A little more fight was shown by the Legs in the second term, their first goal just one of four kicked by the home team. But it didn't close the gap by too much, the Pies still in front by 25 points at the half-way mark. At this time, Stuart Bown was taken off field with an accelerated heart beat! Port would gradually extend their lead throughout the rest of the game, when play resumed for the third term the Magpies kicked 5.5 to the Redlegs' 3.4 to be in front by 38 points at the final change. The multi-pronged goal attack of the Pies set them apart from Norwood's, the visitors driving the nail into their arch-rivals to win by 45 points after a 4.3 to 3.2 final quarter.
Jeremy Clayton was at his brilliant best while Brett Zorzi was top performer for Norwood.
