Match Report

The ABC Match of the Round saw the cameras head off to the Woodville Oval where the Eagles faced their nightmare side from years past, the Bulldogs.

The home side was more hungry this time around it seemed, getting off to a fine start with a 4.5 to 1.1 first quarter. But the Dogs, who like last year's sterling second half of the season, got the jump on the Eagles in the second term and reduced the margin to 13 points after booting four goals without a miss to the Eagles' 2.3. A fan was ejected after an over-zealous Eagle fan struck the Gowans boys with a flag as they left the field for the long break, which probably lit a fire under the Bulldogs backsides for the third quarter, where again they reduced the Eagles' lead, down to three points. But the Eagles were determined to exorcise the Bulldog demons, Mark Passador the main source of pain for Central's backmen. He was too quick for them, and the Eagles ran off to a four goal win. Passador finished with five goals, putting him within striking distance of the goalkicking ladder top spot.

Tim Inkster was named best afield for the Eagles, while James Gowans was voted best for Centrals.
