Match Report

We head off to the Alberton Oval, where the Magpies hosted the Double Blues. Sturt was stunned by the Eagles last week and were mighty angry and soon the 'Pies would feel the brunt of that anger.

Port were inaccurate early, they kicked 2.5 while the Blues put through 4.3 to be up by 10 points at quarter time. The visitors would then follow that up with a 6.4 to 4.3 second term, putting the gap out to 23 points by the long break. Brant Chambers relentless march to the Ken Farmer Medal continued today, with more punishment coming for the Magpies in the third term. They kicked a further 5.1 to 2.3, stretching the gap to 39 points at the final change. The game was all over by this time, Port coach Tim Ginever would be left scratching his head and the headache is still to come as his men face a week on the sidelines and two games to pull it together. The final term was the only time the 'Pies outscored the Blues, kicking 3.5 to 3.1 to bring the final margin back to 35 points.

Chambers kicked nine goals for his day, but it was Jade Sheedy who was named best for Sturt while Kristian De Pasquale was voted best for Port.
