The lights of the Hamra Homes Oval in Elizabeth fired up for Saturday night mayhem as the Bulldogs faced up to the first placed Tigers. The Bulldogs were coming off a loss to the Double Blues last week, while Glenelg came out trumps against Norwood. In the last clash between the two, the Tigers held off a fast finishing Bulldogs outfit.
But this time the Dogs came out snarling and were up by eight points at quarter-time after a 2.3 to 1.1 first term. The Dogs went on to restrict the Tigers to just 1.2 whilst landing home 4.1 for themselves in the second term, putting the gap out to 25 points at the long break. The reigning premiers were challenged early in the third quarter, but their desire for victory just hardened and they kicked 5.1 to Glenelg's 4.1 to extend the gap to 31 points at three quarter-time. Pressure on the man and men like Ian Callinan and Paul Thomas making absolute pests of themselves to the Tigers saw the Dogs run away with it in the final term, they kicked 4.4 to the visitors' 2.2 to post a 45 point win and sending a warning to the rest of the SANFL competition that their grip on the premiership trophy won't be easily loosened.
Ryan Williams was named best for Centrals, while Luke Panozzo was voted best for Glenelg.
