The Eagles clashed with the Redlegs at the Woodville Oval in the ABC Match of the Round. The 'Legs were beaten so soundly in Round 9 that they only managed nine points.
In the first quarter, the Redlegs faithful could be forgiven for thinking that it was going to happen again after the Eagles kicked the first two goals. But in an unbelievable turnaround of form, the Redlegs would then find themselves up by 19 points after kicking 6.3 to the Eagles' first term total of 3.2. The visitors extended their lead to 25 points by half time, adding a further 4.2 to 3.2 before the break. The Redlegs were running hot, continuing to extend the gap in the third term as they kicked 4.4 while the Eagles had a bit of deja-vu about them with yet another 3.2 term. At the final change, Norwood's efforts put the margin out to 33 points. The final term was one to forget for the home side, one embarrassment was a kick-in from a Redlegs behind where the player exited the goalsquare before booting out. The resulting bounce allowed a quick and easy goal, one of 5.3 to the Redlegs, while they kept the Eagles to a lowly 2.3. The visiting Norwood fans sung the club song to their team on their way to the changerooms after a 51 point win, leaving Eagles coach Ron Fuller to wonder what happened.
Norwood voted Adam Cockshell as their best although Taylor Walker's nine goal haul can't go un-mentioned, while Luke Jarrad took best on ground honours for the Eagles.
