In an experimental move, the Tigers and the Double Blues clashed at a twilight timeslot of 4:30, which saw over 5,100 people turn out at the newly christened Gliderol Stadium at Glenelg. In the last clash between these sides, it was the Tigers who roughly shoved the Blues out of the finals in the Preliminary Final by 66 points.
Glenelg would a seven point lead at quarter time, they kicked 3.2 to Sturt's 2.1 to begin proceedings. The Tigers would then slot through a further 4.4 to 1.1 in the second term, setting up a 28 point lead to end the first half. The Double Blues would rise to challenge the Tigers in the third quarter, bringing the gap back to 20 points and giving the visitors some hope of stealing the match. But the Tigers would have none of that, Sturt's hardest workers couldn't stop the Glenelg machine that kicked a further 3.3 while restricting the Blues to 1.2. The home side won by 33 points, with Wayde Mills making an impressive debut to help silence Sturt spearhead Brant Chambers.
But it would be Ben Fisher that would take best on ground honours for Glenelg, while the Blues voted in captain Jade Sheedy.
