We head over to Coopers Stadium at Norwood for the ABC TV match between the Redlegs and the Bloods in the only Saturday fixture. These two are fighting over a possible fifth spot, with the two clubs sitting sixth and seventh respectively. The last three matches have gone to Norwood, the previous four to the Bloods.
Westies blew several chances early on in the piece, kicking 2.5 while the Redlegs took a four-point lead at the first change with their 3.3. The second quarter saw the Bloods bag four goals in the first five minutes but couldn't keep up that intensity enough to take a hefty lead at the half-time siren, 4.1 to Norwood's 3.1 seeing the Bloods up by two points. After the long break, finally the Bloods found their rhythm as they kicked 4.3 to the home side's 2.2 to stretch the gap to 13 points at three quarter-time, in contrast to earlier games in the season where the drop-off would happen post-second quarter. The Bloods would continue to hold off the Redlegs in the final term, kicking 4.1 to 3.3 to take out a 19 point win and nick sixth spot.
Bronik Davies was voted best for the still-improving Bloods, while the Redlegs named Jamie Vlatko as their best afield.
