Sunday afternoon football at the Woodville Oval saw the Eagles take on the rampaging Glenelg. The Tigers have been red-hot... sitting on six straight victories and top of the ladder, the Eagles in fourth with their on-and-off form. The Eagles have won the last four encounters, but its the Woodville hoodoo that the Tigers have suffered from which started after their last victory on Eagle soil in 1999.
The first quarter was goals a-plenty and the hoodoo looked likely to continue as the Eagles took a 13-point lead into the first change. But the Tigers would kick back in the second quarter, allowing the Eagles just one behind whilst adding 3.3 to their score to lead by seven points at half-time. From there it was all Glenelg, when play resumed the Tigers began their charge toward victory with a 6.3 to 2.2 third quarter to be up by 32 points at the final change. The visitors didn't finish with a bang, but did enough to end the Woodville hoodoo with a 34 point win after kicking 3.3 to 3.1 for the final quarter.
Byron Murphy was named best on ground for Glenelg, while Mark McKenzie was named best for the Eagles.
