Match Report

In the only Saturday afternoon match the ABC cameras headed to House Brothers Oval in Unley once again as the Double Blues hosted the Eagles. In their last encounter, the Eagles were eliminated from the 2009 Finals race after going down by 10 points to the Blues in the 1st Semi-Final, so the Eagles had an axe to grind.

The first half was a goal-fest, the scores were tied up 5.2 a piece at quarter-time. There would be a gap at the half-time break though, the Eagles taking another 5.2 to outscore the Blues inaccurate 3.6. At the break, the visitors were up by eight points. The Blues continued to remain in the hunt when play resumed, but the Eagles still stretched the gap to 14 points in a tit-for-tat third quarter after taking a further 5.1 to 4.1. But come the final quarter, the Double Blues early mistakes would be nothing compared to being blown to smithereens in one term of football as the Eagles smashed home 9.1 to the Blues' 4.1. In a match that yielded 256 points collectively, the Eagles won by 56 points.

Jay Cheep was named best for the Eagles, while the Blues named Tristan Gum as their best on ground. The Sturt goal record will have to wait for another week for Brant Chambers, one more goal will equal Rick Davies' record.
