In the final match for Round 4, our own version of the civil war broke out at Hickinbotham Oval in Noarlunga as South Adelaide clashed with North Adelaide. There was nothing left for either of these teams but a little piece of pride in their last clash, the Roosters having one last hurrah at Prospect in Round 23 with a 10-goal win.
North rushed off early, but a bigger margin would not happen thanks to some inaccurate shooting as they kicked 6.7 to South's 1.3 to lead by 34 points at the first change. The Panthers found more of the big sticks in the second quarter, they scored 5.3 to the Roosters' 4.4 to take six points off their quarter-time lead going into the break. The third quarter was all North, they tore into the Panthers physically and even mentally at times and blasted away to a 64 point lead after booting 9.3 to South's 3.3. Going by the final quarter, this was one victory that didn't need to fully get away from the Panthers. They actually outscored the Roostes 7.4 to six goals, but the loss would still be an embarrassing one. In the end the Roosters left Noarlunga nine goal winners.
James Allan was named best afield for the red & whites, while South named Andrew Horne as their best.
