In the final match for Round 14, its back up to the north at Prospect Oval as the Roosters locked feathers with the Eagles. These two sides have had a long match list from the past few years -- 11 matches, three of them during finals in 2007 and last year. The last encounter was a forgettable one for North... a difference of two scoring shots, but a loss of 67 points at Woodville.
The Eagles started off best, taking a five-point lead at quarter-time after scoring 2.2 to North's 1.3. The Roosters took it up to them in the second quarter though, only inaccuracy preventing the red & whites from commanding a bigger lead. They kicked 4.4 to the Eagles' three goals to overturn the quarter-time deficit, the five-point advantage now belonged to North. But after the long break, the Eagles came out a different team and proceeded to re-establish their dominance by kicking 4.1 and holding the Roosters to 1.3 in the third quarter to take a two-goal lead going into the final stanza. In a near re-hash of the match from earlier in the season, the scoring shots would show North ahead by three, but 2.3 to the Eagles' 5.1 would not reflect that point with a victory. The visitors left Menzies Avenue with a 27-point win, giving them a two-point lead over West Adelaide on the ladder.
Scott Lewis was named best for the Eagles, while Nick Gill was voted best on ground for the Roosters.
