Match Report

It's on the tram and off to the Bay as the Tigers faced the Bloods at Gliderol Stadium. Despite a late fightback in Round 2, the Tigers still had some last quarter answers to leave Richmond 26-point winners. The previous seven were all black and gold victories, West's last win was in early 2007 at Tiger-land.

The Bloods got the jump on the Tigers early on, but inaccuracy - 4.5 to 2.1 - would be their worst enemy from here on out. After being 16 points down at quarter-time, the Tigers ripped into their canine adversaries, bagging seven shots without a miss to just 2.1. At the half-time break, the Tigers held a 13-point lead. The Bloods would not bag a major in the third term, but the Tigers weren't kicking away here either. The home side managed just 2.2 to Westies' two behinds to stretch the gap out to 25 points at the final change. But the Tigers seemed to be just taking it easy in that quarter by comparison to their final term effort, as they rammed home a further nine goals to the visitors' 1.3 to take a 71-point victory, with Ruory Kirkby kicking six to jump to the top of the goalkickers' ladder.

Trevor Cranston was voted best for the Tigers, while West voted in Jarrod Silvester as their standout.
