Match Report

In the final match for Round 21, the wild cats of the SANFL turned out at Gliderol Stadium at the Bay... Glenelg and South Adelaide. In the last bust-up between these two, the Panthers came within a whisker of an upset but the Tigers left Noarlunga with a six-point win. Thanks to a Bulldogs defeat later in the day, the minor premiership was in sight but no-one would know this yet.

The Panthers inaccuracy in the first quarter would allow the Tigers to take a nine-point lead after kicking 1.6 to 3.3. The Tigers would then have a blinder of a second quarter, taking off to a 46-point half-time lead after ramming home 10.3 to South's 4.2. Despite a better showing in the third quarter by the Panthers -- 5.1 to 3.2 -- they were still going to find it hard going after they brought the gap back down to 35-points by the final change. The Tigers finished the job with authority in the final quarter, but inaccuracy prevented an even bigger final margin as they kicked 6.6 to South's one behind. Glenelg would take a 76-point win in the end, putting them on equal points with the reigning premiers. By the time they face each other in the final round, it could very well be a playoff for the minor premiership and a week off.

Glenelg named Luke Panozzo as their best on ground, while South named Xavier Gotch as their best.
