Match Report

We head down The Parade to Coopers Stadium for some Friday night mayhem as the Redlegs faced their bitter rivals in the Magpies. Norwood have dropped only two games from the last nine, but the one that hurt the 'Pies the most was the day that saw the re-unification of the Port football family... a three-point loss at AAMI Stadium.

Unfortunately, the pain was about to continue for the black & whites, the Redlegs jumping out of the blocks with a 6.2 to 1.3 first quarter to lead by 29 points at the first change. Two of those goals were in the first five minutes! Norwood would continue the onslaught in the second term, kicking a further 5.2 to Port's 2.1. At the half-time break, the Redlegs were sitting on an eight-goal lead. But if the Magpies had a white flag somewhere in their gear, flying it now would have made little impression on a Norwood outfit that wanted blood. And that is exactly what the Redleg faithful were baying for when play resumed, the home side responded with a further 5.4 whilst keeping the Magpies to just 1.3 to stretch their advantage to 73 points. No-one would have blamed the Magpies mob if they started leaving at this time... it was a dreadful display to watch, but the 7000-odd locals that turned out enjoyed every minute as their heroes fired through a further 6.4 to 2.1 as the Redlegs swaggered off the ground with a 100-point win.

Bryce Campbell was named best for Norwood, while Steven Summerton was Port's only real shining light.
