Match Report

Sunday afternoon found us heading down to the bay on the tram to the Gliderol Stadium in Glenelg where the Tigers faced the Crows. Last season's two games saw the Crows take a massive victory in the final round, where as the Round 4 match ended in a 51-all draw after the ground's lights failed. As mentioned earlier, the Tigers made the Redlegs really work for it but came up a goal short, the Crows on the other hand hadn't really had too much to worry about up to this point.

A shootout ensued for the opening term, the Crows taking the first three goals before the Tigers answered with some of their own to be just one goal behind at quarter-time, the scoreboard reading 4.1 to 3.1. The Crows widened the gap by the half-time break, but not but as much as they probably would have liked thanks to their inaccuracy. Adelaide scored 5.4 to the Bays' 4.2 to go into the long break with a 14-point lead.

Inaccuracy on goal would be an issue for both sides when play resumed, they kicked three goals each in the third term with a handful of behinds to each side making only a single point's difference to the deficit, Adelaide ahead by 15 points at the final change after adding 3.5 to 3.4. Unfortunately for the Tigers, despite their charges giving it a red-hot go against the near fully loaded Crows it was that class difference that won out in the end. The Crows added a further 5.4 to the Tigers' 3.1 to take a five-goal win, keeping their streak intact for another week ahead of their clash against fellow undefeated club South Adelaide.

Jon Beech was named best for the Crows, while James Sellar was voted best on ground for Glenelg.
