Match Report

In the inner northern suburbs, down Menzies Crescent to the Prospect Oval, the Roosters faced the Tigers. From their two clashes in season 2015, the Tigers took both games with winning margins of 35 points in Round 9, then 56 points in Round 16. Those two victories helped the Tigers avoid the wooden spoon, an unwanted prize that found its way into the North Adelaide camp. Much like the Blues' clash with Port, the Tigers have some decades old history with the Roosters. It was 30 years ago that the Tigers took back-to-back premierships at North's expense in the 1986 Grand Final, their last major triumph.

Unfortunately the Tigers' faithful will have to wait until later this year to really commemorate that achievement, the Roosters starting off the game with a 4.1 to 1.1 opening term to lead by 18 points at the first change. The Roosters would go on to extend that gap, the Tigers having a horrid time in front of goal to score 1.4 to North's 5.2. By the long break, the Roosters were away to a 40-point lead. Whatever form they had against the Redlegs last week at The Parade, Glenelg didn't seem to have it this week and despite having a better second half, the Roosters made sure it would be to no avail. In the third quarter, North would add 5.3 to the Tigers' 4.4, the home side stretching it to 45 points at three quarter-time. Glenelg's final term would reduce the final margin to 33 points, they kicked 5.2 to North's 3.2 to finish the match as the Roosters returned to the winner's table.

Max Thring was named best for North, while the Bays named Jake Johansen as their best on ground.
