Allan Cations was a tough, hard working full back who may have lacked class but was very difficult to beat one on one. He joined Richmond from Werribee South and was a mainstay of the team for half a dozen seasons of his VFL career. Between 1952 and 1957 and in 1959 he played a total of 104 senior games and booted six goals. Injuries compelled him to retire but he remained involved with the Tigers as a recruiting officer.
