A skilful half forward flanker Allan Hender who gave good service to Port Adelaide (91 SANFL games, 44 goals, 1928-33) and St Kilda (69 VFL games, 41 goals, 1934-8). Whilst with Port he played carnival football in Sydney in 1933 which was where he came to the attention of St Kilda officials. After leaving the Saints he played in the VFA for Brighton for a time.
