AFL: 5,902nd player to appear, 3,076th most games played, 11,687th most goals kickedFootscray: 359th player to appear, 166th most games played, 903rd most goals kicked

Defender Angus Abbey was recruited by Footscray from local side Waratah and made his league debut in 1949. He was solid and reliable rather than flashy, and served the Bulldogs well in 78 games from 1949 to 1954. He failed to register a single goal. He was a first choice senior player for part of that time, but by his last season was only rarely selected. He did make the 1954 grand final team, however, albeit only as 20th man. His son Ross also represented Footscray with distinction.
