A defender and half forward, Archie Roberts never quite managed to nail down a place in Melbourne’s seniors over the course of his 36 game stint with the club between 1932 and 1936. He did, however, play in reserves premiership-winning teams in 1932 and 1935.
The 1937 season saw him lining up for Essendon, where he added 12 VFL appearances, before rounding off his career in the VFA with Prahran, for whom he played 29 games over two seasons. Roberts later died as a Japanese prisoner of war.
