A wingman from Kyneton, Brian Bowe commenced his league career with St Kilda in 1958, and went on to play 14 games for that club over the course of that season and the next. He was a member of the Saints’ 1958 night premiership-winning side. After spending the 1960 season back at Kyneton, where he played in a winning grand final, he was recruited by Norwood at the behest of coach Alan Killigrew (previously in charge at St Kilda). Between 1961 and 1965 Bowe played 74 SANFL games for the Redlegs and scored three goals. In his first season he played in a losing grand final team against West Adelaide.
