Charlie Street was at Richmond from 1928 to 1931, but only played 13 senior games. Meanwhile, his 55 reserves appearances included the winning grand final of 1929 against Geelong. A ruckman, he was strong overhead and a thumping kick.
Street moved to Carlton in 1932 where he fared rather better than with the Tigers, playing 33 senior games and scoring 10 goals. He was second ruckman in the Blues’ 1932 grand final team but his former team mates from Punt Road ended up holding sway by a margin of nine points. An unspecified injury sustained whilst playing in the Saturday morning league ultimately forced his retirement as a player at the end of the 1933 season at the age of just 23.
